A few more observations about the Yankees…

By Patrick

Yesterday, Casey Blake hit a two-run double over the head of Bobby Abreu. The reason it was a two-run double was because Abreu failed to catch up with the ball, ran head-first into the wall and fell back in a daze. Meanwhile, the ball was harmlessly lying right next to him.

Abreu is a good rightfielder. He seems to track balls pretty well to his side and in front of him. He also has a strong throwing arm. However, he appears to be very wall-shy.

Watch out for the WALL!

Hey Bobby, suck it up. The warning track isn’t a foot long and you’re not running into a brick wall. Can you imagine how Reed Johnson felt when he made a diving catch and risked running head-first into the brick wall at Wrigley Field? Oh, and use your hands to shield your face from the wall. Come on now, that should be a reflex.

Hideki Matsui has a 17 game hitting streak. Great job, Mats. He has really stepped up since A-Rod and Jorge Posada went down. If only Giambi and Cano could step up…

Kyle Farnsworth is actually doing a great job out of the bullpen. It’s as if Farnsworth is, uh, Kyle Farnsworth and the rest of the league is Jeremy Affeldt.
